SetiMovers

By James Battersby

Description

SetiMovers is a Perl script that reads in a domain rank table from Seti (for example http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/domain_org.uk.html) and highlights those people that have moved up or down. It also indicates how far they have moved and the number of results they have returned. The comparison is done between the current data and the last saved data, so if you execute SetiMovers every day, you will get the change in one day. If you only run once a week, you will get the weeks change. To run SetiMovers you must be able to execute Perl scripts on your web server, alternativley it can be run locally.

The output from SetiMovers looks like this. People going down are marked in red, going up in green and the person/people who returned the most results are highlighted in yellow.

    • Updated to cope stats page format change.

Installing

Simply copy the file to your /cgi-bin directory.

Using SetiMovers

If you plan to run locally, you must uncomment a couple of lines in the file, these cause the script to save the output to a local file called movers.html. The stats page you use must be in the same format as this http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/domain_org.uk.html. The first time you run it, it will not make any changes to the page because it has no previous data to work from. The next time, assuming the Seti page has been updated, you will notice some changes.
